Secure environment to brief and discuss new and emerging military ground vehicle fleet technologies.  We anticipate 250+ attendees from government, industry and academia. All attendees must have at least a secret clearance. Session briefers will be selected after review of submitted abstracts. Following the conference, papers will be available on the secure, DTIC site. The Symposium 2016, held at MBL, had 180 attendees and 60 briefers over 3 days.

Survivability & Protection 2018 will have three distinct categories/training sessions supported by selected authors: Prevent, Preempt and Defeat/Disrupt. Briefings can/will be Classified/Secure.

Prevent – This training session will feature technologies that prevent enemy threats from affecting U.S. ground vehicles.  The session includes early enemy threat identification and obscuring blue force vehicles from enemy threats. Technologies could include:
•    Pre-shot
•    Passive Signature Management (camo/paints)
•    Active Signature Management
•    Decoy
•    Laser Warning Receiver (SA)
•    Hostile Fire Detect (SA)

Preempt – This training session will focus on technologies that attempt to disengage the enemy threat.
•    Dazzle/jammer (soft kill)
•    Obscurants (soft kill)
•    Counter UAS/Small air

Defeat/Disrupt – The third training session will feature active means of securing our ground vehicle fleet. These technologies will be the advancements made in vehicle interior engineering designed to protect the occupants, as well as active and layered defeat efforts.
•    Hard Kill
•    Active Blast
•    Adaptive / Reactive Armor
•    Seats, Floors and Structures
•    Passive Armor
•    Transparent Armor

Novel – The final session will address technologies being developed and investigated that are relevant to U.S. ground vehicles including energy absorption methods, modular controllers, bioengineering, and occupant centric protection test methods. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
•    Future armor protection schemes of vehicles
•    Sensor and eye protection against lasers
•    Modular controllers for holistic active defense
•    Technologies to measure blast effects on humans
•    Light weighting strategies

Keynote speakers and expected to pics to be addressed:
Morning of 6 Nov (Location: Building #4/Fenty Hall, Ft. Benning):
•    MG Brito - Distinct differences between Multi-Domain Battle vs. Multi-Domain Operations in terms of capabilities needed for overmatch. MCOE's role once the Army's Future Command is stood-up regarding requirements development.
•    BG Coffman – The new Futures/Modernization Command and how the Survivability community is essential to NGCV’s success. Illustrate what this command needs from industry and government alike.  How can we further the mission?
•    G2 – Provide a clear understanding of the various threats around the globe.
